Arthur Stanley Jefferson and Oliver Norvell Hardy were seasoned veterans by the time they made their first joint appearance in the 1921 silent short, “The Lucky Day.” Both had been working separately as all-purpose comics at the Hal Roach Studios, but not until they were teamed up did the magic happen.
