Grind-Busker-Raffin organ – Laurel & Hardy’s WAY OUT WEST melodies – Jim Canavan, grinder – gmmix

“Way Out West” melodies from the 1937 Laurel & Hardy film, recorded in “the long room” in the former Oley Line Hotel, built in 1835, at what is now Limekiln, PA. The 20-note grind-organ featured in this video, sometimes referred to as “a busker organ,” was made by Josef Raffin in Uberlingen, Germany. Jim Canavan–who resides in the former Oley Line Hotel building, a recognized Berks County landmark–is seen operating the Raffin organ.

The organ belonged to a friend of mine who purchased the unit from Raffin, which has lots of information posted on the internet…and on their YouTube postings.
