I’ve yet to see much of the L&H catalog of films, but this is one I watch time and again… And it may just be because I love this scene so much! Tremendously funny and rhythmic, two great bedfellows! =D

That is definitely Harpo Marx playing that song. Nobody has a harp style like his. Its either a record or Harpo decided to visit the set that day. No doubt about it.

Ahahaha! they just don’t make funny stuff like this anymore these days….

I remember dying of laughter as a kid when my family and I rented this film– these two comedians are the BEST!!!

Did anybody else recognize the song? It’s “Waiting for the Sunrise”–recall they’re to be executed at sunrise!

I got this move on sale years ago and this scene is the one I always think about, even now for Laurel and Hardy themselves.

I wonder if that is someone playing a harp or a record?

  • kassandrasduplex posted: 19 Dec at 5:59 am

Yes! The song is “The World is Waiting for the Sunrise” Thank you! I couldn’t remember where I had heard it before…Les Paul and Mary Ford did a hipster version of it and I love it. But I never got the joke until reading your post. Thanx.

Between Harpo’s harp playing and the little

pantomime skit that Stan does here?

I’d rather watch Stan Laurel doing this beautiful

bit of comedic business in this scene from”The Flying

    Deuces!”.
