Laurel & Hardy – Way Out West – (Tainted Love)

* Featured Video – Stan & Ollie strutt their stuff (The Soft Shoe Shuffle) to the 80’s classic Tainted Love by Soft Cell, while a bemused sheriff looks on. Note – UMG (Universal Music Group ) has allowed me to use the soundtrack to which they own the copyright to (Soft Cell -Tainted Love) and also the rights to the movie ‘Way Out West* / Stan Laurel Productions. INFO – From the motion picture WAY OUT WEST. The film’s score was composed by Marvin Hatley and nominated for an Academy Award for Original Music Score. The film includes two famous songs, firstly “Trail Of The Lonesome Pine” sung by Laurel and Hardy except for a few lines by Chill Wills and Rosina Lawrence, lip-synched by Laurel. And secondly “At The Ball, That’s All” sung by The Avalon Boys and accompanied by Laurel and Hardy performing an extended dance routine, one which they rehearsed endlessly. “Trail Of The Lonesome Pine” was released as a single in Britain in 1975 backed by “Honolulu Baby” from Sons Of The Desert reaching number 2 in the British charts. @windjunkiehippy Not meaningless to Laurel and Hardy as they obviously choose it for the sketch over other music at the time. Without that particular music, the whole sketch isnt as good in my opinion. I think the original song was right for that time and fitted the scene as there are obviously people performing it in the background. with the singing.

As for L&H liking the softcell one, well, I guess we will never know will we.

@teamdoa the original soundtrack was just as meaningless.. the point of the whole sketch is just a funny soft shoe dance to music.. no theme.. just a fun dance to music.
I think Stan and Ollie would love this.
